Vaibhav Suryavanshi, aged 14, has a chance to become the youngest player to make his IPL debut. According to Rajasthan Royals’ stand-in captain Riyan Parag, Suryavanshi is set to step in for the injured Sanju Samson in their match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). However, due to LSG captain Rishabh Pant choosing to bat first after winning the toss in Jaipur, Suryavanshi’s debut will have to wait as he remains on the bench in RR’s bowl-first XI.
Pant explained his decision to bat first, citing the pitch’s dryness as a determining factor and ruling out the possibility of dew affecting the game. LSG, who aim to recover from their previous loss to Chennai Super Kings, made a similar change in their batting lineup by replacing Akash Deep with fast bowler Prince Yadav.
In addition, LSG may also choose to utilize the skills of Mayank Yadav, one of the quickest bowlers in India. He was recently added to their list of impact players for this season. It’s worth noting that Mayank had been undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru due to a lumbar stress injury.
The current position of Royals is eighth, but they are determined to recover from their three consecutive losses. LSG, on the other hand, holds the fifth spot and has achieved four victories out of seven games. They have a chance to secure a spot in the top three if they win tonight.
The selected teams for the match are as follows:
