To avoid any potential distractions, the BCCI has implemented stricter guidelines for family members’ access to PMOA zones during IPL matches. Furthermore, Team India players have been reminded of the mandatory rule to travel via team bus during international games.
The updated regulation concerning the relatives of players and support staff states that they are prohibited from entering the dressing room on both practice and match days. To clarify, only accredited staff members are permitted in the dressing room and on the field during pre-tournament and tournament practices.
According to the BCCI, fitness tests for players cannot be carried out on the main square on days when matches are being played. Typically, physios utilize this area to assess the players’ fitness right before a match begins. Additionally, the BCCI has emphasized that players must wear Orange and Purple caps for a minimum of two overs and refrain from wearing sleeveless jerseys during post-match presentations.
In order to provide more details about the regulations, the BCCI has arranged for a face-to-face gathering with all team leaders on March 20 at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai. Typically, these discussions take place in the city where the opening match is held. The IPL is slated to commence in Kolkata on March 22.
Some of the changes being made this year include:
- Practice during a competition. The practice area will provide 2 nets and 1 side wicket on the main square for teams to do range hitting. In Mumbai, both teams practicing simultaneously will receive 2 wickets apiece.
- Open nets are strictly prohibited. Should one team complete their practice session ahead of schedule, the use of the wickets for practice by the other team is prohibited.
- Practice is not permitted on days when there are matches scheduled.
- On the day of the match, there will be no fitness test held at the main square.
- During practices, both before and during the tournament, only authorized personnel may enter the dressing room and field. Family and friends of players must arrive separately and can observe practice from the designated hospitality area. If any additional support staff, such as throw down specialists or net bowlers, will be present, their names must be submitted to the BCCI for authorization. Upon approval, they will receive non-match day accreditations.
- Players are permitted to utilize the team bus for transportation when arriving for practice. The teams have the option to travel in two separate groups if desired.
- The Venue Manager will serve as the point of contact (POC) for any inquiries regarding practice, fitness tests on Match days, or other related requests.
- It’s that momentous day when all the hard work and dedication finally pays off. The day we’ve been eagerly awaiting, counting down the hours until it arrives. It’s Match Day.
- PMOA accredited staff are required to bring their accreditation on match day. In the event that they do not have it, a warning will be given on the first occurrence. Should this happen again, the team will receive a monetary fine.
- Despite our efforts to provide hitting nets for your convenience, we have noticed that some players continue to hit on the LED boards. We kindly remind all teams to comply with this rule.
- Avoid sitting in front of the LED boards, as designated areas will be marked on the field for substitutes and support staff to sit with towels and water bottles.
- All players are required to wear either an Orange or Purple Cap. If any players are not wearing a cap, we kindly ask that they do so for the first two overs until it is caught on camera.
- During the post-match presentation, it is prohibited to wear floppies or sleeveless jerseys. If this rule is not followed, a warning will be given for the first offense, and a financial penalty will be imposed for the second offense.
- During match days, like in the upcoming IPL 2024 season, only a total of 12 designated support staff will be allowed, with one of those being the team doctor.
- The number on the jersey. Kindly provide a 24-hour notice, as stated in the clothing and equipment guidelines, if there are any modifications to jersey numbers.
