Following their record-breaking loss at Chepauk last Friday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made two alterations for their upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Jamie Overton has replaced fellow Englishman Sam Curran and will be making his IPL debut, while Vijay Shankar has stepped in for Deepak Hooda.
Overton adds depth to the middle order and can deliver powerful pitches at impressive speeds over 140kph. Meanwhile, Vijay is a familiar face for CSK, having previously played for them in 2014 before joining other teams. He was originally placed at No. 4 in CSK’s bowl-first lineup, but it’s possible that Shivam Dube may take that spot as an Impact Player while Vijay moves down the order. Unfortunately, there was no space for Devon Conway on the team.
RR, on the other hand, remained unchanged following their loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the same location. They could introduce an additional bowler as an Impact Player in lieu of Sanju Samson later tonight. Samson is currently recovering from a finger injury and has yet to be given clearance to fulfill his duties as a wicketkeeper or fielder.
Team lineups
The Rajasthan Royals lineup includes Yashasvi Jaiswal at number one, Sanju Samson at number two, Nitish Rana at number three, and Riyan Parag as captain. Dhruv Jurel takes on the role of wicketkeeper while Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Jofra Archer fill in the middle order. Completing the bowling attack are Maheesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, and Tushar Deshpande.
Some noteworthy substitutions include Kunal Singh Rathore, Shubham Dubey, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kumar Kartikeya, and Yudhvir Singh.
The Chennai Super Kings team consists of various talented players such as Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (wicket-keeper), Jamie Overton, R Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana, and Khaleel Ahmed.
The impact substitutes for this game include Shivam Dube, Mukesh Choudhary, Devon Conway, Shaik Rasheed, and Sam Curran.
