In the past six tosses at this venue this season, captains have consistently chosen to chase. But in the final game of the season for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Pat Cummins broke the trend and decided to bat first after winning the toss.
Anticipating a suitable batting pitch for both innings, he expressed the team’s desire to finish the season with steady performance. The SRH batting-first line-up remained unchanged from their previous victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane stated that he would have chosen to bowl first regardless, considering the previous two games at this stadium were comfortably won by the team batting second. This marks their first game after losing to CSK on May 7, with their match against RCB being rained out on May 17. It also serves as their last match of the season.
Manish Pandey, who filled in for the injured Venkatesh Iyer in the match against CSK, has maintained his position in KKR’s bowling-first lineup. Angkrish Raghuvanshi is the player who is expected to make a significant contribution. Additionally, Quinton de Kock has taken the place of Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
The lineup for Sunrisers Hyderabad includes Travis Head as the first player, followed by Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan as the second and third players respectively. Heinrich Klaasen takes on the role of vice captain while Nitish Kumar Reddy, Aniket Verma, Abhinav Manohar, Pat Cummins (capt), Harshal Patel, Eshan Malinga, and Jaydev Unadkat complete the rest of the eleven.
The Impact Subs for the team include Mohammad Shami, Harsh Dubey, Sachin Baby, Zeeshan Ansari, and Simarjeet Singh.
The Kolkata Knight Riders starting lineup includes 1 Quinton de Kock as the wicket-keeper, accompanied by 2 Sunil Narine and 3 Ajinkya Rahane as opening batsmen. The middle order comprises of 4 Manish Pandey, 5 Rinku Singh, and 6 Andre Russell. In the bowling department, we have an effective combination of 7 Ramandeep Singh, 8 Harshit Rana, 9 Vaibhav Arora, and 10 Anrich Nortje. Completing the team is our spinner, Varun Chakravarthy at number 11.
The following players have been listed as impact substitutes: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Venkatesh Iyer, Anukul Roy, Spencer Johnson, and Luvnith Sisodia.
