At the halfway mark, Delhi Capitals have scored 133 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Stubbs and Ashutosh both contributed 41 runs each, while Cummins took three wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Pat Cummins was the standout player, taking three early wickets and making an impressive running catch for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as they restricted Delhi Capitals (DC) to a total of 133 runs. In the IPL 2025 match played at Hyderabad, SRH won the toss and elected to bowl first. The pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium lacked grass, making it a challenging surface for both teams. However, Cummins showed his skill in delivering balls that nipped sideways and stopped quickly on the batters, utilizing his expertise in bowling at a hard length.
The SRH captain decided to take the new ball in place of Mohammed Shami and made an immediate impact by taking Karun Nair’s wicket with his first delivery. After bowling 19 balls, Cummins had already claimed three wickets. Additionally, Ishan Kishan – who took over the wicketkeeping duties from Heinrich Klaasen for this match – also took three catches.
Together with Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat also contributing to the wickets, DC found themselves struggling at 29 for 5 in just the eighth over. The ball that Unadkat delivered to take down KL Rahul perfectly encapsulated the challenging conditions – under usual IPL circumstances, Rahul would have confidently struck the attempted drive; however, this particular pitch provided a rare exception as the ball straightened and grazed his edge, resulting in Kishan becoming the first keeper to catch out an entire top four in an IPL match.
Tristan Stubbs was instrumental in DC’s recovery, leading the team from that moment. He first scored 33 runs alongside Vipraj Nigam for the sixth wicket. Unfortunately, a mix-up on the field resulted in both batsmen ending up at the same end and Nigam sacrificing his wicket. However, Stubbs continued to make an impact by adding another 66 runs with Ashutosh Sharma for the seventh wicket.
In DC’s latest game, they once again opted for a bowler-heavy starting XI and called upon Ashutosh from the Impact Player bench when necessary. His contribution of 41 runs off 26 balls, including three sixes, was instrumental in DC’s late surge during the last six overs. Stubbs also remained unbeaten with 41 runs off 36 deliveries.
As DC’s innings came to an end, the rain started, causing SRH to delay their chase.
