Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first against Chennai Super Kings.
The hype surrounding MS Dhoni leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team faded when Ruturaj Gaikwad took to the field for the toss at Chepauk on Saturday. Unfortunately, he lost the coin toss and Axar Patel from Delhi Capitals (DC) made a common decision for evening matches in hot and humid weather: to bat first. DC made one change to their line-up, with Sameer Rizvi stepping in for Faf du Plessis, who was unable to play due to injury. Notably, DC’s batting XI only included three overseas players.
Gaikwad, who suffered an elbow injury in the previous match putting his participation in doubt, stated that the pitch appeared dry. This implies that there might be favorable conditions for spinners, which the home team has been anticipating. For this game, CSK made two alterations, with Devon Conway’s addition eliciting a loud cheer from the Chepauk crowd as he replaced Jamie Overton and Mukesh Choudhary taking the place of Rahul Tripathi. These changes result in R Ashwin batting at No. 8 – assuming Shivam Dube is substituted as the Impact player – with only bowlers to come after him.
While CSK may have only secured one victory in the 2025 IPL season, they currently hold the eighth spot on the points table. Meanwhile, DC has managed to maintain a perfect record and has yet to suffer a loss.
The Chennai Super Kings lineup includes Devon Conway at number one, Rachin Ravindra at number two, and Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain. Vijay Shankar comes in at number four, followed by Ravindra Jadeja at five. MS Dhoni serves as wicket-keeper at six, with R Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary, Khaleel Ahmed, and Matheesha Pathirana rounding out the team.
The Impact Player list includes a talented group of individuals, including Shivam Dube, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Jamie Overton, Shaik Rasheed, and Nathan Ellis.
The Delhi Capitals lineup includes KL Rahul at number one, followed by Jake Fraser-McGurk at two and Abhishek Porel as the wicketkeeper at three. Axar Patel leads the team as captain at fourth, while Tristan Stubbs takes fifth place. Sameer Rizvi, Ashutosh Sharma, and Vipraj Nigam hold positions six to eight respectively. The team also boasts Kuldeep Yadav, Mitchell Starc, and Mohit Sharma as their final three players.
The list of impact players includes Mukesh Kumar, Karun Nair, Darshan Nalkande, Donovan Ferreira, and Tripurana Vijay.
