The PBKS allrounder, Glenn Maxwell, was penalized with a 25% match fee deduction and received a demerit point for violating the IPL’s code of conduct during their recent game against CSK.
Although the IPL has not disclosed the specific details of his transgression, they did release a statement indicating that Maxwell acknowledged his violation of Level 1 terms outlined in article 2.2 (misuse of equipment during the game) and agreed to the consequences set forth by the match referee.
Batting at No. 6 for PBKS after winning the toss, Maxwell was caught and bowled by R Ashwin on only his second delivery. The team’s strong total of 219 for 6 was thanks to Priyansh Arya’s impressive century (off just 42 balls), as well as contributions from Shashank Singh (52*) and Marco Jansen (34*). This ultimately led to an 18-run victory. During CSK’s chase, Maxwell took the first wicket by stumping Rachin Ravindra, with assistance from wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh.
In IPL 2025, Maxwell has been performing at his peak, despite PBKS only winning three out of their four games so far. He began with a disappointing first-ball duck against Gujarat Titans (GT), followed by a solid 30 runs off 21 balls in a losing effort against Rajasthan Royals. Additionally, he has taken three wickets in the tournament thus far.
PBKS will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their upcoming match this Saturday, which will be played in Hyderabad.
