Currently, Gujarat Titans (GT) holds the second spot on the IPL 2025 points table and is positioned favorably to secure a top-two finish. Furthermore, their stellar players are also dominating the Orange Cap and Purple Cap standings at this point, following their recent victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
The table featuring the Orange Cap is displayed below.
After Nicholas Pooran (LSG) experienced a slump, with scores of 8, 11, 9 and 27 following his last half-century, three Indian batters – B Sai Sudharsan (GT), Virat Kohli (RCB), and Suryakumar Yadav (MI) – have been competing for the Orange Cap. While Sai Sudharsan has held onto it the longest despite being the least experienced of the three, he briefly lost it earlier this week but regained it with his impressive 23-ball 48 against SRH. This innings also propelled Sai Sudharsan to become the first batter to cross 500 runs this season, reaching a total of 504.
Keeping the cap has been challenging in recent days.
On Saturday night, Kohli is set to face CSK. Currently ranked at No. 5 on the table, he is only 61 runs behind Sai Sudharsan. With his recent track record of 73*, 70, and 51 in his last three innings, it’s highly likely that he will rise to the top – assuming favorable weather conditions – with a strong performance against CSK. This team was the first to be eliminated from playoff contention.
The top five spots in the GT batting lineup are currently filled by Suryakumar (475 runs) at No. 2, followed by Jos Buttler (470) and captain Shubman Gill (465) at third and fourth respectively. Pooran has fallen to seventh place with a total of 404 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal of RR holds the sixth spot with 439 runs.
The table designated for the Purple Cap.
After his impressive Player-of-the-Match performance against SRH, taking two wickets for 19 runs, Prasidh Krishna has reclaimed the Purple Cap with a season total of 19 wickets. However, his teammate Josh Hazlewood will also be in action on Saturday night and is close behind with a tally of 18 wickets.
Ranking third is MI’s Trent Boult with 16 wickets, while closely behind at No. 4 is CSK’s Noor Ahmad with 15. In fifth place, three bowlers are tied with 14 wickets each: Khaleel Ahmed from CSK, Mohammed Siraj from GT, and Mitchell Starc from DC.
