At the end of their innings, Gujarat Titans scored 217 runs for the loss of six wickets, with top contributions from Sudharsan (82), Buttler (36), and Shahrukh (36). Deshpande and Theekshana each took two wickets for Rajasthan Royals.
B Sai Sudharsan once again notched up a half-century, this time smashing 82 runs off just 53 balls for Gujarat Titans (GT) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Ahmedabad. In an interview with the broadcaster during the innings break, he expressed that it was a satisfactory total, considering the limited amount of dew during the match.
After RR called on GT to take the field, Jofra Archer once again provided an early breakthrough for his team. In their last match, he had dismissed Punjab Kings’ Priyansh Arya on the first delivery. Tonight, he swiftly knocked off Shubman Gill’s off stump with the opening ball of his second over.
Sai Sudharsan continued to display his exceptional performance as he utilized a variety of shots such as ramps, scoops, drives, and cuts to lead his team to 50 runs in just 5.1 overs. By the end of the powerplay, he had reached an impressive score of 39 off 22 balls. Among all innings played by GT during this phase, only Wriddhiman Saha’s 54 against Lucknow Super Giants in 2023 surpasses Sai Sudharsan’s current run total.
After a difficult welcome from Archer, Jos Buttler eventually made his way to the crease. Although he started off slowly, he quickly caught up by hitting four fours in just six balls, bringing his total score to 31 off 19.
After Maheesh Theekshana put an end to the 80-run second-wicket partnership, off just 47 balls, by successfully trapping Buttler lbw, M Shahrukh Khan stepped up and delivered a strong performance of 36 runs in just 20 deliveries to maintain GT’s momentum.
Despite being dropped on 81 by Shubham Dubey off Archer, Sudharsan was only able to add one more run to his score. However, thanks to the efforts of Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan, GT managed to score 30 runs in the final two overs.
