For the remainder of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans (GT) have signed Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as a replacement for injured Glenn Phillips. Shanaka previously played for GT in 2023 and will be joining the team for INR 75 lakh (USD 87,800).
Ten days ago, while fielding against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad, Phillips sustained a groin injury. As a result, he had to leave the tournament and return to his home country of New Zealand.
Shanaka’s experience in the IPL is limited to a single season, during which he played for GT and appeared in three matches. Unfortunately, he only managed to score 26 runs and was not given the opportunity to bowl. This occurred two seasons ago.
On April 3, GT had announced that Kagiso Rabada would be leaving the team due to an important personal matter. At this time, there is no information on when he will be back in India, or if he will return at all. As of now, no replacement has been chosen for Rabada by GT.
Having emerged victorious in four out of their six matches, GT currently holds the second place on the points table with almost half of the league stage completed. Their upcoming game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at their home ground, where they will face off against Delhi Capitals (DC), who currently hold the top spot on the table.
