In the match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, Jacks scored 53 runs while Suryakumar contributed 35 runs. For Gujarat Titans, Sai Kishore took 2 wickets for 34 runs.
GT’s solid bowling once again proved to be a key factor in restricting MI to a total of 155 for 8, after they had managed to reach 97 for 2 earlier on. This impressive performance was partially due to Rashid Khan’s bounce back from his last match, where he had an analysis of 3-0-50-0, as he recorded figures of 4-0-21-1. Additionally, R Sai Kishore also contributed by taking the wickets of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya. Despite the final nine and a half overs only yielding 6 runs for GT, they were able to maintain their strong hold over MI and limit them to just an 18-run final over.
Along with the spinners, a variety of other bowlers also made their mark. In the opening over, Mohammed Siraj dismissed Ryan Rickleton, while Arshad Khan continued to trouble Rohit Sharma with his left-arm seam. Additionally, Prasidh Krishna solidified his position as the leading wicket-taker by claiming his 20th victim of the season. However, the turning point for MI was not due to any exceptional bowling, but rather the three missed catches – two from Will Jacks and one from Suryakumar – that proved fruitful for them.
In their most recent men’s T20 match, Suryakumar extended his streak of surpassing 25 runs for the 12th consecutive time, just shy of the record at 13. Meanwhile, Jacks secured his first half-century for MI, contributing to a partnership of 71 runs in just over seven overs. Despite this impressive performance, they struggled against the spinners at times. In fact, Rashid nearly had Jacks out lbw multiple times and induced five false shots in only nine balls before finally catching him at deep square leg.
Sai Kishore faced tougher challenges when Suryakumar continued to play inside-out against him. Eventually, he adjusted his approach and bowled over the wicket, causing discomfort for Suryakumar and leading to a catch at long-off. GT set up aggressive field placements with a slip and short leg for Hardik, which Sai Kishore executed perfectly with accurate length and spin. Despite attempting to hit aggressively, Hardik could only achieve a top edge while trying to slog sweep.
Prasidh and Gerald Coetzee capitalized on their advantage with powerful pitches, successfully dismissing Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir in rapid succession. Rashid proved his resurgence with an impressive 18th over, conceding only four runs. In the final over, Corbin Bosch secured a total of over 150 for MI with two sixes against Prasidh’s bowling.
