The IPL 2025 match between PBKS and DC in Dharamsala on Thursday evening had to be stopped midway due to a major technical issue at the stadium.
According to an official statement, the malfunction of a light tower at the HPCA stadium was caused by a power outage in the area. The BCCI expresses regret for any inconvenience experienced by those attending the event in the stadium.
The first innings of the game had only completed 10.1 overs when PBKS chose to bat. During this time, openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh had achieved a remarkable century opening partnership. However, T Natarajan managed to dismiss Arya for 70 off just 34 balls before the match was interrupted due to three floodlight towers going off around 9.29pm IST. Approximately 11 minutes later, it was announced that the match had been cancelled.
Due to inclement weather, the start of the match was delayed. The toss occurred at 8.15pm IST instead of the original time of 7pm, followed by the game beginning at 8.30pm IST. Fortunately, no overs were missed due to the delay.
PBKS’ upcoming game against MI has been relocated from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad.
