Rejoining the Gujarat Titans squad on May 14, ahead of the IPL 2025 resumption on May 17, will be England batter Jos Buttler and South Africa fast bowler Gerald Coetzee.
Following the suspension of the IPL for a week on May 9 due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, only two overseas players from the GT squad left India. The remaining overseas players, including Rashid Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Kagiso Rabada, and Karim Janat, chose to remain with the rest of the squad in India.
Although Rutherford was selected for the West Indies ODI team during the England series from May 29 to June 3, he may be unavailable for the IPL 2025 playoffs due to a potential clash with Buttler’s inclusion in England’s white-ball squads.
Currently at the top of the points table with 16 points, GT only has three matches remaining in the league phase. Being the first team to resume training after the ceasefire between both countries on May 10, GT played a crucial role in paving the way for the IPL’s resumption.
The upcoming game is scheduled for May 18 in Delhi against Delhi Capitals, followed by two final home matches in Ahmedabad. They will face Lucknow Super Giants on May 22 and Chennai Super Kings on May 25 to conclude the league phase.
On Monday, the IPL announced the updated schedule for the remaining portion of the season. This portion consists of 13 league matches and four playoff games. These matches will take place across six different locations: Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The venues for the playoffs have not yet been determined. The dates for these matches are as follows: Qualifier 1 on May 29, the Eliminator on May 30, Qualifier 2 on June 1 and the final on June 3.
