KKR opted to bat against RR.
In their home match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the toss and implemented a few alterations. Despite injury concerns, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane was deemed fit to play after his last game’s finger injury.
According to him, the Eden Gardens pitch appeared parched and may decrease in speed during the latter part of the match. KKR is making changes by bringing in Moeen Ali and Ramandeep Singh. While Harshit Rana and Anukul Roy were present in the previous game, only one of them will feature as the Impact Player this time around. Rovman Powell has been excluded from the starting lineup as they already have four foreign players included.
Despite not being fully recovered, Sanju Samson continues to be unavailable for the RR’s captaincy, allowing Riyan Parag to lead the team once again. Parag expressed his contentment with losing the toss as he was uncertain about what decision to make. The return of Wanindu Hasaranga, who was previously sidelined due to injury, was a welcome addition. Meanwhile, Nitish Rana, who previously represented KKR, had to sit out due to a niggle. In his place, Kunal Singh Rathore was included in the lineup and Hasaranga took over Kumar Kartikeya’s spot. To adhere to the maximum number of overseas players rule, Fazalhaq Farooqi had to make way for Yudhvir Singh. Moreover, it is anticipated that Shubham Dubey will join as the Impact Player for RR.
At Eden Gardens, the boundaries are relatively short both at the High Court End and on one side of the wicket. The pitch also has a dry section on the fuller lengths, although Eoin Morgan mentioned on air that it appears to be holding up well. In recent years, the average first-innings total here has been around 200 runs with six wickets lost.
RR has been eliminated from the tournament, but KKR still holds a small possibility of securing a spot in the playoffs.
The Kolkata Knight Riders consist of Rahmanullah Gurbaz as the wicket-keeper, Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane as captain, Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Moeen Ali, Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy.
Manish Pandey, Harshit Rana, Anukul Roy, Rovman Powell, and Luvnith Sisodia make up the roster of KKR Impact Players.
The Rajasthan Royals team consists of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Kunal Rathore, Riyan Parag as captain, Dhruv Jurel as wicket-keeper, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Yudhvir Singh and Akash Madhwal.
