As IPL 2025 resumes on May 17, the majority of KKR’s foreign players are anticipated to reach Bengaluru by Wednesday night or Thursday morning. KKR will kick off their comeback with a crucial match against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The West Indian players and mentor of KKR – Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell, and Dwayne Bravo – have been in Dubai since the suspension of the IPL on May 9 due to tensions between India and Pakistan. After a ceasefire announcement on May 10, there was a chance for the IPL to continue and teams started bringing back their foreign players.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the wicketkeeper-batter, will move from Kabul to Dubai to join the West Indian team before heading to India. Meanwhile, Anrich Nortje, the quick South African bowler, will make his way from the Maldives to Bengaluru to join the squad there.
The availability of allrounder Moeen Ali, currently in the UK, and fast bowler Spencer Johnson, currently in Australia, is still unknown. However, it is likely that they will return to join the team. As for Quinton de Kock’s return, there is no confirmed news yet. The Indian players and support staff of KKR are expected to arrive in Bengaluru in groups starting from Wednesday.
Sitting sixth on the points table, KKR has secured five victories and one no-result out of 12 matches. Following their match against RCB, their last league game will take place in Delhi on May 25 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In order to have a shot at making it to the playoffs, they must emerge victorious in both fixtures and reach a total of 15 points.
On Monday, the IPL announced the new schedule for the remaining season. It includes 13 league matches and four playoff games. The six venues for the league phase are Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The locations for the playoffs are still to be determined. Mark your calendars for May 29th for Qualifier 1, May 30th for the Eliminator, June 1st for Qualifier 2, and June 3rd for the final showdown.
