KKR posts a total of 200 runs for the loss of six wickets, with notable contributions from Venkatesh (60 runs), Raghuvanshi (50 runs), Rahane (38 runs) and Rinku (32 not out). This is in their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The middle order of Indian batters for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showed their prowess as the home team scored 200 runs in their first innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Eden Gardens.
Initially, No. 3 Ajinkya Rahane’s four sixes in a 27-ball 38 rescued KKR from a challenging predicament. Additionally, No. 4 Angkrish Raghuvanshi provided valuable assistance with a score of 50 off 32 deliveries.
After the dismissal of both batters in rapid succession, it was Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh who took charge with some powerful hits. Venkatesh knocked 60 runs off 29 balls while Rinku Singh remained unbeaten with a score of 32 from just 17 balls.
KKR’s recent batting display marked the first time in five years that a team had achieved a score of 200 in the IPL. However, that accomplishment seemed highly unlikely during the middle overs as Zeeshan Ansari and Kamindu Mendis caused trouble for KKR with their bowling, claiming the wickets of Rahane and Raghuvanshi.
Despite Moeen Ali’s inclusion for this game, KKR’s batting lineup extended all the way to No. 9. This allowed Venkatesh and Rinku to unleash their shots against Simarjeet Singh, Pat Cummins, and Harshal Patel. As a result, KKR scored a stunning 78 runs in the final five overs, gaining momentum going into the innings break.
SRH made a strong start by quickly dismissing Quinton de Kock (1) and Sunil Narine (7) during an impressive powerplay performance.
