The Lucknow Super Giants put up a total of 205 runs for the loss of seven wickets, with strong contributions from Marsh (65), Markram (61), and Pooran (45). Malinga was the leading bowler for Sunrisers Hyderabad, taking two wickets while conceding 28 runs.
Once again, the formidable trio of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) shone in the match, with Nicholas Pooran delivering a stellar performance with 45 runs off 26 balls, following impressive half-centuries from openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram. As the pitch grew more difficult to navigate with an aging ball, LSG’s remaining batting lineup struggled to contribute: while they had scored a solid 108 runs without losing any wickets in the first 10 overs, they could only manage 97 runs for 7 wickets in the latter half. This was due to the clever changes of pace employed by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) bowlers, who successfully restrained LSG’s scoring.
Eshan Malinga proved to be SRH’s standout bowler, taking 2 for 28. He dismissed Rishabh Pant, who had once again moved up the batting order to No. 3 but failed to make an impact, as he spooned a slower delivery back to the diving fielder. Ayush Badoni was also among Malinga’s victims.
Malinga, Pat Cummins, and Harshal Patel utilized the slower ball to their advantage, causing SRH to initially appear capable of restricting LSG to less than 200 runs. However, Nitish Kumar Reddy made his debut IPL appearance in 2025 and gave away 20 runs in an action-packed final over. Pooran smashed his first six off the 25th ball he faced while Akash Deep sealed the innings with a first-ball six. The over also saw three wickets, including two run-outs.
Unfortunately, LSG’s final tally fell significantly below their initial expectations. This was despite a promising start from Marsh and Markram, who dominated the opening partnership with 115 runs in just 10.3 overs. Both players achieved half-centuries in just 28 balls, showcasing their powerful hitting abilities with four sixes each at the top of the batting order.
The 11th over saw Marsh’s dismissal, marking Dubey’s first wicket in the IPL and triggering LSG’s slowdown. Pooran also faced difficulties with the pitch’s pace, starting off with just 28 runs in his first 20 balls before ending strongly.
