DC seamer Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fee following their loss to MI, which eliminated them from the IPL 2025 playoff race.
The player faced a level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct for misconduct involving cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings. He then agreed to the penalty imposed by match referee Daniel Manohar.
Mukesh’s performance on Wednesday evening left much to be desired as he gave up a total of 59 runs in his four overs, including five fours and three sixes. The most damaging over was the 19th in which he conceded 27 runs, allowing MI’s Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir to propel their team to a winning score of 180. This over included a series of big hits: 6, 1, 4, 6, 6, and 4.
KL Rahul, known for his impact on the game, replaced him during DC’s chase. However, their pursuit resulted in a low total of 121 runs, with only uncapped Indian players Sameer Rizvi (39) and Vipraj Nigam (20) managing to score over 20 runs. DC was further decimated by the exceptional performances of Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah in the second innings. The duo bowled a total of 44 balls and took three wickets while conceding just 23 runs, proving to be highly economical for their team.
So far this season, Mukesh has appeared in 11 out of DC’s 13 matches, securing a total of 11 wickets with an average of 32.63 and an economy rate of 10.11.
