According to a statement released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday afternoon, Mustafizur Rahman has been given a no-objection certificate to join Delhi Capitals (DC) from 18-24 May 2025.
This provides him with the opportunity to play three more league-phase games for DC in IPL 2025, but he will not be available for the playoffs if DC qualifies. The BCB has confirmed that Mustafizur will play in Bangladesh’s first T20I against UAE on Saturday in Sharjah, before flying to India. It is uncertain whether he will be prepared to play when he arrives in India on May 18 for DC’s game later that evening.
The agreement between DC and Mustafizur hit a small hurdle earlier this week. The IPL and the franchise released a statement confirming his addition, but the BCB later clarified that they had not yet been asked for a no-objection certificate.
Stating on Friday morning, Starc declared that he would not be joining the team in India for the rest of IPL 2025, following his participation in the abandoned match in Dharamsala last week – which will now be rescheduled. Similarly, Donovan Ferreira, who only played one game this season, will also not be making a comeback.
Thanks to the update, Starc now has a smooth path to the World Test Championship (WTC) final, eliminating any chance of him having to participate in T20s in India just a week before the crucial match. Additionally, he holds the title of DC’s highest wicket-taker this season with 14 dismissals in 11 matches, averaging at an impressive 26.14.
Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs have both confirmed their return to the team. However, Stubbs will only be available for the remainder of the league phase as he will then depart for the WTC final.
