While the leading run-scorers in IPL 2025 have remained consistent, there has been some movement among the top wicket-takers. Let’s take our daily update after Saturday’s double-header.
The leaderboard for the Purple Cap
Noor Ahmad, the leading left-arm wristspinner for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has secured the top spot on the Purple Cap table once again. He recently took a wicket from Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Axar Patel, making him the first bowler to reach ten wickets this season. His impressive performance in CSK’s opening match against Mumbai Indians (MI) resulted in 4 wickets for just 18 runs, remaining his standout performance thus far.
In DC’s match against CSK, Mitchell Starc made an early impact in the third over. With nine wickets in just three games, he has now moved up to No. 2 position. Particularly impressive was his career-best T20 performance of 5 for 35 against SRH.
Slipping to third position is MI captain Hardik Pandya, who secured the second five-for of the season in a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday.
The leaderboard for the Orange Cap.
Despite only scoring 12 runs against MI, LSG’s Nicholas Pooran managed to maintain his spot at the top of the run-scorers’ table with a total of 201 runs from four innings. This impressive feat was accomplished through stellar performances in the first three matches, including a quickfire 75 off 30 balls against Delhi Capitals (DC), 70 off 26 against SRH, and 44 off 30 against Punjab Kings (PBKS).
After his impressive performance of 49 runs off 36 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sai Sudharsan has now secured the second spot. In the previous two matches, Sudharsan had recorded scores of 74 and 63.
After temporarily falling behind, Mitchell Marsh returned to the No. 3 spot in style with a remarkable 60 runs off 31 balls against MI, greatly contributing to LSG’s victory. His current tally stands at 184 runs over four innings, with the exception of a duck against PBKS. However, Marsh has consistently scored half-centuries every time he has stepped onto the field.
