Following the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai, there was a shift in the top positions of the IPL 2025’s bowling charts. Let’s take a glance at the current standings.
The table displaying the Purple Cap standings
Prasidh Krishna, the fast bowler for Gujarat Titans, remains the leading wicket-taker with a total of 16 wickets from eight matches. Josh Hazlewood of RCB shares this record with him, having taken 4 wickets for 33 runs against RR. However, he holds the second spot due to a slightly higher economy rate than Prasidh’s.
Following his 2 for 42 performance against SRH on Friday, CSK’s Noor Ahmad has returned to the top three spot, bringing his total wickets to 14 for the season. Initially leading the Purple Cap list at the start of the season, Noor briefly dropped in ranking after a couple of games without any wickets. Close behind him with 13 wickets is SRH’s Harshal Patel, who put up an impressive 4 for 20 against CSK, claiming crucial wickets such as Dewald Brevis and MS Dhoni.
The group directly beneath consists of a collection of seven bowlers, all with 12 wickets under their belts: R Sai Kishore from Gujarat Titans, Kuldeep Yadav from Delhi Capitals, the Pandya brothers (Hardik from Mumbai Indians and Krunal from Royal Challengers Bengaluru), Mohammed Siraj from GT, Khaleel Ahmed from CSK, and Shardul Thakur from LSG.
The table with the Orange Cap
B Sai Sudharsan of GT continues to hold the top spot with 417 runs in eight matches, maintaining an impressive average of 52.12 and a strike rate of 152.18. Following closely at the second position is Virat Kohli, who scored a quick 70 off just 42 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their recent game against Rajasthan Royals. This brings his total runs for the season to 392 from nine innings.
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s No. 3, Nicholas Pooran, had an explosive start to the IPL and was the leading scorer from Game No. 7 to Game No. 39. However, a series of low scores have now dropped him to the third spot with a total of 377 runs from nine innings.
The IPL’s Mumbai Indians (MI) player Suryakumar Yadav has maintained his impressive performance throughout the season without making any major waves. Currently, he holds the fourth position with a total of 373 runs. Remarkably, he has not scored in single digits this season, with his scores being 29, 48, 27*, 67, 28, 40, 26, 68* and 40*.
Trailing closely behind is Jos Buttler of GT and Yashasvi Jaiswal, with both players currently at 356 runs. Despite a slow start to the season, Jaiswal has scored impressive totals of 75, 51, 74 and 49 in his last four innings, putting him on par with Buttler who has played one fewer inning.
