GT and KKR faced tough losses against CSK and SRH, respectively, in Sunday’s double-header, resulting in adjustments to the Orange and Purple Cap rankings for IPL 2025. Let’s take a daily glance at the current standings on those leaderboards.
The table for the Purple Cap.
Noor Ahmad concluded his season with an impressive record of 24 wickets in 14 matches, including a notable performance of 3 for 21 in CSK’s final league game. This puts him in first place on the leaderboard. Prasidh Krishna of GT is currently one wicket behind Noor, with a total of 23 wickets in 14 innings after taking 2 for 22. However, Prasidh still has more opportunities to add to his tally as GT has advanced to the playoffs, unlike CSK.
After claiming 1 for 23 in just two overs and adding to his total of 17 wickets from 14 matches, Prasidh’s team-mate R Sai Kishore moved up to the No. 5 spot. Similarly, Varun Chakravarthy of KKR also has 17 wickets from 13 innings, although his last match in Delhi on Sunday was not as successful – he failed to take a wicket and ended with figures of 0 for 54 in three overs as SRH dominated with a score of 278 for 3. As a result, Varun slid down to No.6 in the rankings.
MI’s Trent Boult ranks at No. 3 with a total of 19 wickets, closely followed by RCB’s Josh Hazlewood at No. 4 with 18 wickets.
Table with the Orange Cap
Despite suffering an 83-run defeat in Ahmedabad, GT’s opening batsmen B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill maintained their positions as the top two players on the Orange Cap table. GT fell short in their chase of CSK’s impressive total of 230 for 5, being bowled out for just 147. Sudharsan was once again the team’s highest scorer with 41 runs off 28 balls, bringing his total to 679 runs in 14 matches. Gill, who was dismissed for a quick 13 off nine deliveries, remained in second place with a total of 649 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav from MI, Lucknow Super Giants’ Mitchell Marsh, and Yashasvi Jaiswal of RR make up the remainder of the top five. Currently at No. 6 with 548 runs, RCB’s Virat Kohli has a strong chance to climb higher in the ranking.
