There has been an increase in the number of batters scoring over 200 runs and more bowlers achieving double-digit wickets in the current IPL season. Let’s now take a glimpse at the Orange and Purple Cap standings for IPL 2025 following CSK’s victory over LSG on Monday evening.
The top scorers on the Orange Cap leaderboard.
Currently, our team boasts a total of 14 batters with over 200 runs, and we have several others who are just shy of this milestone. However, the number of players who have surpassed 300 runs is limited to only two, with one more needing just one hit to reach that impressive record. These three hitters have held their positions at the top since the early days of the tournament.
At the top of the list is Nicholas Pooran (357 runs), who had a rare off day against CSK. Following closely behind are B Sai Sudharsan (329) and Mitchell Marsh (295).
As the competition intensifies, Shreyas Iyer stands at 250 runs, while Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav closely trail behind. Others such as Jos Buttler, Travis Head, Tilak Varma, Phil Salt, Shubman Gill, Aiden Markram, Ajinkya Rahane and KL Rahul are also performing well.
At this point, Pooran and Sai Sudharsan appear to have a significant lead. However, if they have a few underperforming games and some players in the trailing group have standout innings, the dynamic could quickly change.
The same applies to the Purple Cap table.

Although Noor Ahmad had his first ‘0’ in the wickets’ column against LSG, his 4-0-13-0 performance was considered by many to be the Player-of-the-Match. Despite this, he continues to lead with a total of 12 wickets.
Trailing just behind is the duo of Khaleel Ahmed and Shardul Thakur. Khaleel earned his spot with a wicket against LSG, while Thakur unfortunately did not secure any, missing the opportunity to equal Noor’s performance or possibly even surpass it.
Our current roster of ten wickets includes Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Prasidh Krishna, R Sai Kishore, and Mohammed Siraj.
