LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl on the black-soil pitch at Ekana Stadium. GT captain Shubman Gill expressed his preference to bowl first as well.
Unfortunately for LSG, Mitchell Marsh, their second top scorer in the 2025 IPL season and third overall after Nicholas Pooran and B Sai Sudharsan, will be absent on Saturday. The reason for his absence is due to his daughter’s illness as stated by Pant. In lieu of Marsh, LSG has replaced him with Delhi batter Himmat Singh, who was listed at No. 4 in their team lineup. Interestingly, Pooran has been slated to open alongside Aiden Markram.
Himmat was one of the top scorers in the first Delhi Premier League. LSG has two potential Impact Players to substitute in during matches: Ayush Badoni, who has consistently played in their middle order this season, and debutant South African top-order batsman Matthew Breetzke.
In addition, GT opted to substitute left-arm quick Kulwant Khejroliya with offspin-bowling allrounder Washington Sundar. With his return, Washington adds much-needed strength to the spin attack alongside his Tamil Nadu teammate R Sai Kishore and Afghanistan’s renowned spinner Rashid Khan.
LSG’s initial lineup consists of Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, and Rishabh Pant as the captain and wicket-keeper. They are joined by Himmat Singh, David Miller, Abdul Samad, Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, Digvesh Rathi, Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi in the first XI.
Introducing our impact substitutes: Ayush Badoni, Prince Yadav, Shahbaz Ahmed, Matthew Breetzke, and Shamar Joseph.
The starting XI for GT, batting first, includes B Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill as captain, Jos Buttler as wicketkeeper, Washington Sundar, Sherfane Rutherford, M Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Arshad Khan, Rashid Khan, R Sai Kishore and Mohammed Siraj.
Prasidh Krishna, Mahipal Lomror, Nishant Sindhu, Anuj Rawat, and Jayant Yadav are the impact substitutes.
