The PCB has accused Corbin Bosch of violating contractual obligations by signing with Mumbai Indians (MI) for IPL 2025, despite previously withdrawing from PSL 2025. He has received a legal notice from the board regarding this matter.
For the first time, the PSL and IPL will coincide in terms of schedule. The IPL is scheduled to take place from March 22 to May 25, while the PSL will run from April 11 to May 18. At the January PSL draft, Bosch was chosen by Peshawar Zalmi in the diamond category. However, on March 8, MI announced that he would be replacing the injured Lizaad Williams on their team.
According to a recent PCB statement, the player has been served with a legal notice via his agent. He is being called upon to explain his decision to withdraw from his contractual obligations as a professional. The PCB management has made it clear that there will be consequences for his departure from the league and is awaiting a response within the designated time period. The PCB will refrain from making any additional statements on the subject.
The PCB statement did not mention the expected timeframe for Bosch to provide a response.
The PSL teams have been eager to address the issue of Bosch, fearing it could establish a pattern of players joining the league but then shifting to the IPL. There have been informal talks about potentially implementing a complete ban on such players.
In an effort to enhance the caliber and accessibility of international players for the league’s teams, the PCB made the decision to change the PSL window. Previously held in February-March, this time frame coincided with other tournaments such as SA20, ILT20, and BPL, resulting in competition for player recruitment.
The PSL draft successfully drew a significant amount of prominent players, such as David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, Rassie van der Dussen, and Kane Williamson.
