Punjab Kings opted to field first against Chennai Super Kings.
Electing to field first, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Prior to the game, PBKS faced a significant setback as allrounder Glenn Maxwell was ruled out due to a fractured finger. The duration of his absence is still uncertain, but Shreyas hinted that he may not be available for the rest of IPL 2025.
Although PBKS bowled first, their starting line-up was packed with strong batting options. The team included Azmatullah Omarzai, Harpreet Brar, and Marco Jansen at positions 7 to 9, but they may have to move down a spot as Prabhsimran Singh is expected to start and open the batting when they go for the chase. With Maxwell being replaced by Brar, PBKS had only three overseas players on the field.
With only two victories in their first nine games, CSK’s chances of making it to the playoffs would come to an end if they suffer a loss this evening. Their line-up for tonight’s match remains unchanged from their previous one against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The Chennai Super Kings have announced their final lineup for the upcoming match. Leading the team is MS Dhoni, who will also be taking on wicketkeeping duties. Other players to look out for include Ayush Mhatre, Shaik Rasheed, Sam Curran, and Ravindra Jadeja. Joining them are Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, and Matheesha Pathirana.
The CSK Impact bench consists of Anshul Kamboj, R Ashwin, Jamie Overton, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Ramakrishna Ghosh.
The Punjab Kings lineup includes Priyansh Arya, Josh Inglis as wicket-keeper, Shreyas Iyer as captain, Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh, Suryansh Shedge, Azmatullah Omarzai, Harpreet Brar, Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal.
The impact bench consists of Prabhsimran Singh, Musheer Khan, Xavier Bartlett, Pravin Dubey, and Vijaykumar Vyshak.
