Punjab Kings opted to field first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Following a rain delay of over two hours, the toss was won by Punjab Kings (PBKS) who elected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Due to the reduced playing time, each team will have three bowlers allowed a maximum of four overs and one bowler with a maximum of two overs.
According to PBKS’ captain, Shreyas Iyer, the rain interruption and subsequent reduction of overs influenced his decision in this game. One major change was made by the visitors, with Glenn Maxwell, who has struggled this season, being replaced by Marcus Stoinis. Additionally, Harpreet Brar joined the visiting team for this match.
RCB’s captain, Rajat Patidar, emphasized the need for cleverness in adjusting to the circumstances and environment. When questioned about his thoughts on the conditions, he noted that they might be slightly sticky, but overall the surface appeared sturdy and conducive for setting a strong score.
The RCB XI lineup includes top players such as Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, and Rajat Patidar who will lead the team. Along with them, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma (wk) bring their skills to the table. Tim David, Krunal Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar add depth to the team’s roster.
