The May 11 IPL match between PBKS and MI has been relocated from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad due to heightened tensions at the India-Pakistan border.
PBKS will be facing their final match of the year in Dharamsala, their secondary home ground, against Delhi Capitals (DC) tonight. After a successful start to the season in Dharamsala last Sunday with a win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), they are now gearing up for another important game.
Today’s Dharamsala match for MI was postponed due to the IPL’s decision to hold discussions about relocating the game.
The GCA has agreed to the IPL’s proposal of hosting the PBKS-MI match. According to GCA secretary Anil Patel, MI is expected to arrive in Ahmedabad on Thursday evening.
At the moment, PBKS hold the third position on the points table with 15 points in their 11 games. Right behind them are MI with 14 points in their 12 games.
In order for Punjab Kings (PBKS) to secure their qualification, they must win a few games and reach 19 points. Alternatively, if they can maintain a high net run rate (NRR), they may still advance with 15 points, but this would require favorable outcomes in other matches as well. A guaranteed top-two finish is within PBKS’s grasp if they are able to emerge victorious in all three of their remaining games. However, considering that two of these games are against teams in the top five, these results hold significant importance for PBKS.
Out of the six games I have played in Ahmedabad during the IPL, only one has resulted in a win. However, unfortunately, I have faced defeat in all five of my recent matches at this venue.
