Rajasthan Royals have chosen to bowl first against the Gujarat Titans.
In the IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals (RR) chose to field first on a pitch reminiscent of their game against LSG. Despite their previous success chasing 181, RR came up short in the end and ended up losing by just two runs.
According to Parag, there had been dew on the evening of this match.
GT gave Afghanistan allrounder Karim Janat his debut, but there was no sign of Sherfane Rutherford on the team or substitute list.
RR made a change to their lineup for the upcoming match in Jaipur, anticipating low bounce conditions. They added mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana to the squad, replacing swing bowler Fazalhar Farooqi. Tushar Deshpande, who struggled in the previous game and conceded 36 runs in just two overs, was replaced by Yudhvir Singh.
RR were in a do or die situation, requiring victories in their remaining five matches to keep their hopes of advancing to the playoffs alive. Meanwhile, GT were trailing just two points behind the leaders, RCB, with two extra matches left to play.
In the initial encounter, GT emerged victorious over RR with ease, which marked the beginning of RR’s five-game losing streak. Among these losses were three instances where RR dominated for approximately 35 overs, but ultimately failed to seal the win.
