Bengaluru’s Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to bowl first against Delhi Capitals.
In the IPL 2025 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, it was Rajat Patidar, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won the toss and decided to bowl. He believed that the pitch would be conducive for batting in both innings and had full faith in his team’s capability to successfully chase any target set by Delhi Capitals.
Due to a fever, RCB had to make a switch in their team, replacing opener Phil Salt. As a result, England’s allrounder Jacob Bethell received his IPL debut. It was uncertain where Bethell, a left-handed batsman and left-arm orthodox spin bowler, would be placed in the batting order or if he would fill Salt’s spot at the opening position with local player Virat Kohli.
Faf du Plessis returned to DC’s lineup after recovering from a groin injury sustained in their previous match against these same opponents in Bengaluru on April 10. His inclusion meant that Ashutosh Sharma was replaced, allowing DC to once again field four overseas players. It’s worth noting that Ashutosh could still be utilized as an Impact Player if needed, given their XI already has six bowling options and a strong batting order.
The champion of this competition will be the initial team to reach 14 points for the current season.
The first XI in Delhi Capitals’ batting line-up consists of players such as Faf du Plessis, Abishek Porel, Karun Nair, and KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper. Leading the team is Axar Patel, followed by Tristan Stubbs and Vipraj Nigam. The bowlers include Mitchell Starc, Dushmantha Chameera, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mukesh Kumar.
DC has a handful of impactful players to choose from, including Ashutosh Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Madhav Tiwari, and Tripurana Vijay. These talented individuals are more than capable of making a difference on the team.
The bowling-first XI for Royal Challengers Bengaluru includes 1 Virat Kohli, 2 Jacob Bethell, 3 Rajat Patidar as captain, followed by Romario Shepherd at 4, Jitesh Sharma as wicketkeeper at 5, Tim David at 6, and Krunal Pandya at 7. The remaining players in the lineup are Bhuvneshwar Kumar at 8, Suyash Sharma at 9, Josh Hazlewood at 10, and Yash Dayal at 11.
The potential game-changers for RCB are Devdutt Padikkal, Rasikh Salam, Manoj Bhandage, Liam Livingstone, and Swapnil Singh.
