At the 30-over mark, Mumbai Indians have reached a total of 215 for 7, with Rickelton and Suryakumar leading the way with scores of 58 and 54 respectively, while Mayank has taken two wickets for Lucknow Super Giants.
In the IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Mumbai Indians (MI) relied on Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav’s fifties to reach a total of 215 runs, after being asked to bat first. Making his season debut, fast bowler Mayank Yadav took the wickets of Rohith Sharma and Hardik Pandya, ending with figures of 2 for 40. LSG’s spinners Digvesh Rathi (1 for 48) and Ravi Bishnoi (1 for 41) did not have their best performances.
Mayank delivered a new ball with his speed hovering between the mid 130kph to early 140kph range. However, when he shifted his pace and aimed outside of the stumps, Rohit Sharma took advantage and hit two sixes before eventually getting caught at short third.
Rickelton had a close call on 5 during the second over, but he took advantage of Prince Yadav’s mistake in length and managed to hit two fours and a six instead.
In the powerplay, LSG utilized four overs of spin bowling. During the fifth over, Ravi Bishnoi attempted a sweep against Will Jacks, but the impact was deemed to be outside the line. Despite this, there were no other opportunities for wickets during this phase of the game. As the powerplay came to an end, Rickelton managed to hit two sixes and a four off mystery spinner Rathi, who had not allowed any sixes in the first six overs prior to that point. Ultimately, Rickelton reached his half-century in just 25 deliveries.
Rathi first dried up the boundaries before tempting Rickelton with a wide ball, causing him to slice it to point. However, Mayank’s return in the following over did not yield desired results, as MI’s score reached 105 for 2 after a 16-run over in ten overs.
After Prince’s reverse-swinging yorker took down Jacks at 29, Suryakumar attempted to attack Bishnoi in the 13th over. Despite giving up 16 runs, the legspinner managed to take out Tilak Varma.
Suryakumar hit a ramp shot off Avesh, reaching his 4000th run in the IPL. He then scored another six runs off Prince’s delivery towards fine leg. MI, with a score of 157 for 5 in 15 overs, were ready to make a comeback. However, Mayank disrupted their plans by taking down Hardik’s leg stump and only allowing five runs in the next over.
After being dismissed for 54 runs off 28 balls, Suryakumar’s team, MI, continued to hit boundaries. Contributions from Corbin Bosch and Naman Dhir resulted in Rathi ending his most costly spell and MI surpassing a score of 210.
