In the IPL 2025 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first for Punjab Kings (PBKS) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who retained their lineup.
According to him, the approach has been to stay proactive right from the start. However, our performance in the powerplay has not been great. We need to focus on playing each ball as it comes and not let our past record affect us.
Our key focus remains on staying in the present, maintaining a brave and bold approach while keeping our attitude at its best. The impressive outcome of our previous matches needs to be replicated once again.
PBKS have secured three victories out of four matches, putting them in a favorable position. Meanwhile, SRH is aiming to break their losing streak of four consecutive games, despite starting the tournament strong with a massive total of 286 runs, the second-highest ever recorded in T20 history.
After a five-day break, SRH decided to give Eshan Malinga his debut in place of the allrounder Kamindu Mendis. As a death bowler, Eshan has previously shown his skills both for Sri Lanka in ODI matches and for Paarl Royals in the SA20. Harshal Patel has also recovered from his illness and returned to the bowling line-up, while Jaydev Unadkat will step out for today’s game after playing in the last one.
According to Pat Cummins, our team believes that we have the capability to overcome any challenge. While our beginning has not been perfect, we are maintaining a strong training regimen and are in a positive state of mind. As much as we try to relax, the T20 season can be taxing and unpredictable.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad lineup includes Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen as wicket-keeper, Aniket Verma, captain Pat Cummins, Eshan Malinga, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel, and Mohammed Shami.
