In the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT), RCB scored a total of 169 runs with top performances from Livingstone (54), Jitesh (33), and David (32). However, Siraj from GT took 3 wickets for 19 runs.
Over the past seven years at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Mohammed Siraj has frequently performed his signature siuuu celebration. It has consistently received a thunderous reaction from the crowd. However, on Wednesday, during the powerplay, he executed his celebratory run twice to complete silence.
After being released from RCB for IPL 2025, Siraj was determined to make a statement. He did so effectively, taking 3 for 19 in four overs for GT. However, RCB still managed to post a total of 169 for 8 in their 20 overs, with Livingstone’s 54 off 40 balls and contributions from David and Sharma.
With no hesitation, Shubman Gill opted for fielding first and his choice proved successful as both Siraj and Arshad Khan demonstrated strong speeds. Despite Virat Kohli driving Siraj for a four through covers, Arshad quickly took him out with a nonchalant back-of-a-length ball that Kohli sent straight to deep-backward square leg.
As Siraj continued his impressive bowling, he struck the stumps and dismissed Devdutt Padikkal. Phil Salt experienced some ups and downs, with a dropped catch and missed run-out opportunity by Siraj. However, his luck did not last long as he smashed a six over deep midwicket but was soon bowled out by a powerful 145.9kph delivery from Siraj.
Ishant Sharma successfully trapped Rajat Patidar in front, resulting in RCB’s score dropping to 42 for 4 after 6.2 overs. During the team’s precarious situation, Livingstone and Jitesh formed a valuable partnership of 52 runs off only 38 balls for the fifth wicket, with Jitesh playing the role of the aggressor.
R Sai Kishore then dismissed both Jitesh and Krunal Pandya rapidly, silencing the home crowd once more. Following this, Livingstone took on Rashid Khan and hit three sixes in one over, giving RCB the momentum they needed. The team went on to score 64 runs in the last five overs, with David as the top scorer before getting out on the final ball for an 18-ball 32.
