Sunrisers Hyderabad made the decision to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants.
Opting to field first, Pat Cummins, who leads the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team, made the decision against facing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Stadium.
Unfortunately, SRH will not have opener Travis Head on their team due to his delayed return to India caused by Covid-19. He was expected to arrive in Lucknow on the day of the match, and according to Cummins, he is currently at the team hotel. Additionally, left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat will also be absent from the team for personal reasons.
In addition, a new cap was also awarded to Vidarbha’s left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey by SRH. The absence of Head means that Ishan Kishan may move up in the batting order to open, and Nitish Kumar Reddy is expected to fill the No. 3 spot for SRH.
LSG introduced the towering New Zealand bowler Will O’Rourke for his IPL debut. Opting to bat first, the home team included a lineup with a strong emphasis on bowlers, placing Akash Deep at No. 7. In case LSG requires additional batting support in the first innings, Himmat Singh and Shahbaz Ahmed are potential options available from the Impact Player reserve.
The asymmetrical square boundaries – 60m on one side and 69m on the other – resulting from the off-centre placement of Monday’s game pitch could have a notable impact on strategic decision-making.
Unfortunately, SRH has been eliminated from the playoffs race, while LSG is one of the three teams competing for the last spot. To secure that spot, they must emerge victorious in all three of their remaining matches and pray for favorable outcomes from other games.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad lineup consists of 11 individuals: Ishan Kishan as wicket-keeper, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Aniket Verma, Kamindu Mendis, Pat Cummins as captain, Harshal Patel, Harsh Dubey, Zeeshan Ansari and Eshan Malinga.
Some noteworthy names on the Impact Player bench include Mohammed Shami, Atharva Taide, Sachin Baby, Abhinav Manohar, and Simarjeet Singh.
The players for Lucknow Super Giants are: 1 Aiden Markram, 2 Mitchell Marsh, 3 Nicholas Pooran, 4 Rishabh Pant (capt & wk), 5 Ayush Badoni, 6 Abdul Samad, 7 Akash Deep, 8 Ravi Bishnoi, 9 Digvesh Rathi, 10 Avesh Khan, and 11 Will O’Rourke.
The Impact Player bench is composed of Himmat Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, M Siddharth, Shardul Thakur, and David Miller.
