Unfortunately, Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to do without allrounder Brydon Carse for the upcoming IPL 2025 season due to a toe injury. In light of this, the team has decided to bring in Wiaan Mulder as a suitable replacement.
Carse, who was selected by SRH for his base price of INR 1 crore, had initially injured his left toe during England’s white-ball tour of India prior to the Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, the injury worsened during their first game against Australia in Lahore, causing him to only bowl seven overs. As a result, he was forced to withdraw from the remainder of the tournament.
In their run to the Champions Trophy semi-finals, Mulder emerged as South Africa’s top wicket-taker with a total of six wickets.
Mulder has a solid record in T20s, with 2172 runs and 67 wickets in 128 games. Although this will be his first time playing in the IPL, he has previous experience in both the now-defunct Mzansi Super League (MSL) and England’s Vitality Blast.
The 2025 IPL season is set to kick off on March 22, with SRH taking on Rajasthan Royals in their first home game on March 23. SRH had previously placed as runners-up in the 2024 season.
