The Mumbai Indians (MI) have a favorable win-loss record against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in the IPL, having won ten matches against them. They hold the distinction of being the only team to achieve such a feat against an opponent at a single venue.

Their latest victory on Monday, an eight-wicket triumph, marked their 24th win against KKR in the IPL. This puts them three wins ahead of any other team against a single opponent.

Suryakumar Yadav reached the 8000 T20 runs mark in 5256 balls, making him the second fastest player to achieve this feat after Andre Russell, who took 4749 balls. Suryakumar achieved this during his unbeaten knock of 27 runs off just 9 balls against KKR.

Ashwani Kumar achieved a notable feat when he took four wickets on his IPL debut, making him the first Indian bowler to do so. Prior to this, Amit Singh held the record for the best performance by an Indian on IPL debut with figures of 3 for 9 against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in IPL 2009.

Among the bowlers who have taken four or more wickets on their IPL debut, Ashwani stands out with his impressive figures of 4 for 24. Only three other bowlers have managed to better his performance, namely Alzarri Joseph in 2019 with 6 for 12 against SRH, Andrew Tye in 2017 with 5 for 17 against RPGS, and Shoaib Akhtar in the inaugural season of IPL in 2008 with his figures of 4 for 11 against DD.

Before Ashwani dismissed Ajinkya Rahane on Monday, only two players have taken a wicket with their first ball in the IPL. The most recent was Matheesha Pathirana in 2022, while Hanuma Vihari achieved this feat for Indians back in 2013.

Trent Boult has shown exceptional skill in the first over of IPL innings, taking a total of 30 wickets – the highest number among all bowlers. Out of these, 11 were for Mumbai Indians (MI), with his recent victim being Sunil Narine. In his previous franchise – Rajasthan Royals (RR), Boult had secured the remaining 19 wickets in the opening over.

Narine has yet to conquer the left-arm quick, Boult, in all five T20s he has faced him. Only managing to score 23 runs off 19 balls from the talented bowler.
