Tanmay Srivastava, who was part of India’s victorious Under-19 team in 2008 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, is making a comeback to the IPL after 15 years. However, this time he will be taking on the role of an umpire, making him the first person to both play and officiate in the IPL.
Previously an opener for Uttar Pradesh, Srivastava was the top run-scorer for India in their Under-19 World Cup journey in Malaysia. He later joined Kings XI Punjab and played in the first two seasons of the IPL. In 2020, he declared his retirement after accumulating a total of 4918 runs in 90 first-class matches, most of which were for Uttar Pradesh.
