RCB’s Tim David, known as one of their key finishers this season, has reunited with the squad in Bengaluru. Alongside him are big-hitting allrounder Romario Shepherd and Lungi Ngidi. The franchise has also announced the comeback of Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, and Phil Salt for the rest of the IPL 2025 campaign.
After featuring in RCB’s home game against SRH on May 23, Bethell will only be able to play in one more match before heading back to England. This is due to his selection in England’s white-ball teams for the West Indies series. Consequently, he will not be able to participate in RCB’s final league game against LSG.
Although, salt will be readily accessible until the end of the tournament which is now scheduled to end on June 3. It is worth noting that only select members of England’s T20I squad will be participating in the series against West Indies, set to kick off on June 6 in Durham.
Shepherd has received clearance from Cricket West Indies (CWI) and will continue to play for RCB until the end of the tournament. The 30-year-old allrounder, known for his impressive performance of an unbeaten 14-ball 53 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), was initially chosen for West Indies’ ODI teams for their upcoming matches against Ireland (May 21-25) and England (starting May 29). However, due to a scheduling conflict with the start of the IPL playoffs, he has been replaced by Jediah Blades.
At the moment, it seems that Ngidi will only have limited availability for RCB until the league stage concludes. As of recently, he was also selected to represent South Africa in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s, commencing on June 11. However, it is worth noting that Ngidi and his fellow South Africa teammates who are participating in the WTC final will be making their way back to South Africa by May 27.
RCB is currently awaiting the arrival of their sole overseas player, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. However, his participation may be delayed due to a minor shoulder niggle that he is managing. The franchise is eagerly anticipating an update on his fitness from Cricket Australia (CA). Fortunately, his injury is not deemed to be major as he has been selected for Australia’s squad in the upcoming WTC final at Lord’s, set to begin on June 11.
With a record of eight wins in 11 matches, RCB is ready for the playoffs. Only one more win stands between them and securing their spot in the final four.
RCB will continue their season this Saturday at home, facing off against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), whom they previously defeated in Kolkata. Their league stage will wrap up with an away game against LSG on May 27.
