Chennai Super Kings have scored a total of 230 runs for the loss of five wickets, with notable contributions from Brevis (57), Conway (52), and Urvil (37). Prasidh has taken 2 wickets for Gujarat Titans.
The mid-season replacements for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 – Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, and Dewald Brevis – delivered promising performances in their recent match, giving fans confidence that the future holds similar potential.
Mhatre, the youngest player ever for CSK at 17 years old, and local talent Urvil laid the foundation with solid innings in their thirties. This set the stage for Dewald Brevis to take off, as he smashed a half-century off just 19 balls on a scorching day in Ahmedabad. As a result, CSK concluded with their highest total of IPL 2025 at 230 for 5, which was deemed an impressive score by Brevis himself.
The rapid scoring began when Mhatre launched left-arm seamer Arshad Khan for a string of sixes and fours in the second over, resulting in GT conceding 28 runs. However, Prasidh Krishna quickly ended Mhatre’s innings at 34 off 17 in the fourth over. Despite this, CSK managed to reach 68 for 1 by the end of the powerplay, matching their season-high score.
Following in the footsteps of Mhatre, Urvil wasted no time as he quickly left the starting blocks, smashing Mohammed Siraj for six and then taking on Gerald Coetzee, who had stepped in for Kagiso Rabada. He continued his aggressive approach against R Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan’s spin. However, Sai Kishore eventually got the better of him when he changed to bowling over the wicket, resulting in Urvil being caught out at extra-cover after scoring 37 runs off just 19 balls.
Initially quiet, Devon Conway later went on the offensive against Rashid during the middle overs, scoring a quick 21 runs off just ten deliveries. However, his aggressive approach was short-lived as he was eventually bowled out by the legspinner for 52 runs off 35 balls.
Brevis seized control in the final moments with a remarkable blend of force and modern T20 strategies. He confidently sent nine balls sailing over the boundary, effectively countering Ravindra Jadeja’s slower pace. When Brevis was finally dismissed on the last ball of the innings with an impressive 57 runs, CSK had already reached a total of 230.
Jadeja finished with a score of 21 off 18 balls, while Prasidh stood out as the top performer for GT, taking 2 wickets for just 22 runs in his four overs.
